Barbara Kitchen Celebrates 15 Years with Maryland Eye Associates

The opportunity for continuous learning and career growth was a key motivator for Barbara Kitchen to remain with Maryland Eye Associates for 15 years.

Barbara, who worked at the Prince Frederick location, praises the mentoring provided by the physicians and senior staff members, including Dr. Michael Dodd, who founded the practice in 1977.   “Dr. Dodd does a wonderful job teaching about the anatomy and diseases of the eye,” she notes, recounting a recent example of a patient with a rare condition involving myelinated nerve fibers. “He goes the extra mile to explain the why of things and I love to be part of his on-the-job classroom environment.”

Barbara has held several positions over the years. A Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, she also has plans to become certified by the JCAHPO as an Ophthalmic Technician.  She recently accepted the position of Contact Lens Manager at Chesapeake Eye Care in Annapolis and continues to work as a technician when needed.

I’m excited about my new position and thrilled that I was able to take advantage of this amazing growth opportunity,” she says.
