Card on File FAQs
Do I have to leave my credit card information to be a patient at this practice?
No. It is not a requirement to put a card on file prior to your visit. We are offering this option to make the payment process more convenient for patients and to focus on becoming more efficient in our billing and collection process. A card can be placed on file during the check-in process, this card can be used at the time of service and for any outstanding balances after insurance has paid their portion.
How do you safeguard the credit information you keep on file?
Your credit card information is not stored on our servers or computers. Our credit card processor stores customer data in a secure, encrypted, electronic vault. All transactions are PCI- DSS and HIPAA compliant. The full card number is not viewable within the system after the card is placed on file.
I pay my bills on time. What are the benefits to me?
As a patient you will not need to take any additional steps to make a payment, once your claim is finalized with insurance the patient balance will be run 7 days after you receive a notification. This will save you time.
What if there is a payment discrepancy or I have other payment questions?
You will still be able to contact our Financial Services department to ask questions about your statement. Please contact our Financial Services department directly at 410-571-9770 to settle payment discrepancies or for other payment/billing questions. This policy in no way compromises your ability to dispute a charge or question your insurance company’s explanation of benefits.
Will I still receive a paper bill by mail?
Yes, if you opt out of putting a card on file you will still receive a paper statement. Patients that place a card on file will receive an electronic notification prior to the payment being run. If you have a card on file and would prefer to pay by check or use a different credit card, you may contact our financial services team to coordinate. If you do not wish to make any payment method changes, just hold onto the statement for your records and your card will be charged.
